The Midwest Trading Company is a household dedicated to nothing more than being piratey, in addition, all members of the Midwest Trading company have a persona name in the pirate style.

"The seas be ours

and by the powers

where we will we'll roam.

Yo, ho, haul together,

hoist the colors high.

Heave ho, thieves and beggars,

never shall we die."

History of the MTC

Kupe got a scratched cornea at Rakis in 2007, while he was drinking that night, Arthon forgot his name and called him Cooper; Weezicus and Skrag decided it would be funny to continue to call him this. When he returned from a trip to the hospital in the morning, he was wearing an eyepatch, which drove them to call him "The Dread Pirate Cooper". On the trip back from Rakis, Baine Wolfheart and Aries decided that since Kupe was wearing an eyepatch he should make a pirate house, after much debate and amusement, the Midwest Trading Company was born.

Rules of the MTC

The Midwest Trading Company's Rules are easy, each Amtgard park is its own ship, with its own captain. The captain of the ship can only be usurped when Mutiny takes place aboard the ship, mutiny can be established by killing all other members of the ship and declaring yourself captain, by calling a mutiny duel with the current captain and besting them using the weapons of their pirate flag, or by getting all members of the ship to join you in a mutiny against the current captain.

All ships must have their own pirate heraldry, it must contain a skeleton head in some form and a weapon of some type.

  • If you have ever had an eye injury you may wear an eyepatch.
  • If you have ever had leg/foot surgery, you may use a peg leg in captain's duels (lower leg is not wounded if hit, only must be held straight)
  • If you have ever had arm/hand surgery, you may use an off hand dagger in captain's duels (but it must be turned down stick)
  • If you are a current captain you may use a cutlass in your off hand in captain's duels, you are after all, a captain.
  • Should a captain abandon his vessel-meaning move parks-a new Captain must declare himself before the crew and accept all challengers to his Captaincy. The challenges should be met by fighting according to the rules of the MTC Captain's Duel. Whomever wins the challenge is the declared Captain and is allowed the use of the Cutlass in further duels.

MTC Captain's Duel

The Captain's Duel is fought with the weapon(s) outlined in the flag, if you have a Sword and Trident The Odyssey You are allowed a Short Sword and Spear (thrust only), while only a Belaying pin Womb Wrecker (slash only dagger) is allowed in other flags. If your skull wears an eyepatch, you must fight wearing an eyepatch, if your skull is wearing TWO eyepatches, you must wear TWO eyepatches Womb Wrecker.

  • A maximum of 3 Captain's Duels may be fought in one day, in a first come first served manner. In the event that the Captain's Duels are instigated following a Captain abandoning their ship, (see Rules of the MTC) the initial fight does not count towards this total.
  • Note: Mutinys are not Captain's Duels and may be done at any time.

If a new Captain takes the helm of a ship

  • He has full rights to change the flag and name of the ship (it is his ship after all)
  • Former Captain's become Protectors of the Code, may use the title "Provost" and can be brought in as a mediator to disputes between Captains.
