Heraldry

History

It lies close to the midpoint of Chicago, IL and Omaha, NE. Olympus was founded by Francois Antonio di Vini and Skrag soon after Spring War X, and the first Olympus Battlegame was on March 23rd, 2003. The chapter was originally started in Mt. Vernon, IA, and pulled in many students from the Cornell College campus. After a couple years, attendance was mainly coming from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, and thus an Althing vote changed the location of the park to Cedar Rapids. Roughly a year later, the populace decided to rotate every other week between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.

Olympus officially joined the Iron Mountains on October 22nd, 2004, by a writ of annexation presented by Emperor Jabberwock in the lands of Querna Tema in Omaha, NE.

Olympus and Querna Tema co-founded the Principality of the Rosetta Pact and became official in June of 2005.

Olympus was elevated to Barony status during the second Crown Quals Tournament of the Principality of the Rosetta Pact during January 2006. In January of 2007, Olympus was elevated to Duchy status during the fourth Crown Quals/Coronation event of the Principality of the Rosetta Pact.

Currently, Olympus is the flagship Duchy for the newfound Principality of Olympus. The duchy pulls an average monthly attendance from 50 to 60 players with a weekly average between 30 to 40.

Olympus battlegames take place on Sundays starting at 1:00pm and last until around 5:00pm, or sometimes later. We alternate every week between Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids, IA and Lower City Park in Iowa City, IA. Fighter Practices, Town Halls, and some Workshops occur on Thursdays starting around 5:30pm (locations may change). Weekly fighter practices are also held in Iowa City at Hubbard Park every Friday at 5:30pm.
