Biography

Morwen Triskellian was born an apparently fatherless half-elf in a village of elitist full-blooded elves. That was her first mistake. Her second mistake was entering puberty, because that's when everything went wrong, including the antlers. Especially the antlers. You see, real elves don't have antlers. Everyone from the village elders down to the smallest swaddled babe wanted to know where they had come from and why they were adorning young Morwen's brow, but her mother, having had the poor manners to die shortly after Morwen's birth, was unavailable to address their concerns. "Therianthrope!" the elves cried. "I don't know what that means," Morwen cried back.

The village people tried to remove Morwen's antlers with song, magic, and hacksaws, all to no avail. The antlers were there to stay. After a few days the antlers vanished as mysteriously as they had appeared. "Oh, well that's all right, then," the village elders said with relief. "It was just a fluke. A mischievous adolescent prank. Naughty Morwen. Go clean the goat pens."

When the antlers reappeared a fortnight or so later, the elders decided she was doing it on purpose, and sent her off to live in Dark, a village comprised entirely of other villages' village idiots. Village. Morwen, not being an idiot herself, soon escaped to the big scary castle on the hill whose looming shadow gave Dark its name.

Nightfall Citadel proved to be the turning point in Morwen's life. The mages and artisans there could not explain the cause of her mysterious, sporadic transmogrification either, but they accepted her as she occasionally was. As one doctor put it during one of her antlered times, "She wears antlers now. Antlers are cool."

As she grew, she learned many useful things, such as how to cook, how to craft, and how not to freak out when her antlers appeared. Not much of a fighter, even among the magic- and craft-nerds, Morwen made herself useful in other ways. She became a courier and a spy. In her vardo ("gypsy caravan") she roams the countryside, gathering rare ingredients, vital information, and shiny baubles, and taking them back to Nightfall Citadel.

2011, the Year of the Four-Pronged Trident, she found herself in a Barony known as the Knoblands. She stayed anyway. Over the course of roughly a year, she crafted many things, cast a few spells, and marginally improved her meager fighting skills. In 2012 she was called back to Nightfall Citadel to put down a small uprising in Dark. That effort took two years. The village idiots, it seemed, were truly revolting.

In 2014 she returned to the Knoblands, on the grounds that she left her favorite shiny bauble there by mistake. She remains there to this day.
