A Ten Man Tourney will be held at Rising Winds Coronation,
specifically on Saturday, March 29th, 2009.
Smurf, the autocrat for the event, is running the Ten Man Tourney, for
the first time in several years at a major Rising Winds event. He
plans on announcing it this coming Sunday at Gryphon's Perch Midreign.
(January 18th, 2009)
The Ten Man Tourney is a series of matches with full class rules.
Each team has, of course, ten people. Each team can have up to one of
each caster and two bows. The game takes place in a 150'x75' field,
with a base on each end of the longest dimension. A flag starts in
the center. After a time limit of 15 minutes, the winner of a match
is the team who had the flag in their base for the most time. Matches
are called early if they reach a break-point where it becomes
impossible to win for one of the teams.
This spectacular battlegame was an original creation by Tugen and
D'gar, with the original tournament being held in June of 2004, also
at a Rising Winds event. It was met with very positive reception.
Smurf plans to present his ten man in a way that has never been
presented; it's going to be a huge spectacle. Announcers during the
game, encouraged crowd chanting, and entertainment in between the
games which will include music, dancers, and performances.
Four big fighting companies that will likely be competing include The
Justicars, Dark Harvest, Ferrum Crux, and Black Heaven.
The northern Justicars are obviously a safe bet to do very well in
the standings of the ten man, especially when it is heavily rumored
that they are trying to import first world talent.
Dark Harvest is a relatively new fighting company in the Rising
Winds who made a name for themselves by scoring second during Bridge
Wars late last year, and are looking to prove themselves further by
winning.
Ferrum Crux has been a staple fighting company of the Rising Winds
for the past couple of years. They have definitely made a name for
themselves as a martial force, and placed second in the Bridge battle
2 years ago after a very long pair of matches against the Justicars.
Black Heaven is a fighting company based in Western Gate, who has
a lot of potential in class-based games. They will certainly be a
viable contender for a top placing.
No matter who wins, what is certain is that this event will be a
history making stage, a prime source of entertainment for both the
participants and the audience.
