CK Emblem

The third Amtgard Kingdom, located in central Texas signed a contract with the burning lands on April 27th, 1990. The first Coronation of the CK was held on August 25th of the same year.

The Celestial Kingdom each year hosts Spring War, the largest Amtgard event. For a long time it was held at Burnet County Fairgrounds, but it has in recent years moved to other sites.

The Celestial Kingdom has sponsored chapters throughout central texas and farther off, even including Australia and Germany. For a list of places in the CK, see Celestial Kingdom Chapters or consult the Amtgard Atlas.

You can also see a listing of all the Knights of the Celestial Kingdom, and a List of our active noblilty as well as a list of our people.

History

Amtgard originally spread to this area in Austin in the form of the Grand Duchy of Barad Duin.

From that group, a group sprung up in San Antonio called Turris Lunae. When Barad Duin left Amtgard to form HFS, Turris remained in Amtgard, and along with a group in Kerrville (Bifost, founded by Sir Theo Blackflame) formed the nucleus of what came to be the Celestial Kingdom.

The origins of the Celestial Kingdom, or "CK" as it is commonly known, brought a new configuration to the kingdom structure of the game, as it transcended the single park kingdom paradigm that had existed, and thus altered its corpora to reflect this form of organization. This was the first example of a Kingdom being built around a Floating Crown instead of a Static Crown.

The name refers to the sky. At the first meeting between people from Turris Lunae and Bifost a vote was held for a name between "Elenwyr, the Celestial Kingdom" and "Blood Horde of the Mad Pain God". "Elenwyr, the Celestial Kingdom" was a close winner. The first part of that didn't survive, but the latter part ended up becoming the name of the kingdom.
