The Shire of World's End

A Shire of the Kingdom of Polaris, located in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.

History

Lands End was formed by Kite in 2004 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, after learning the game playing at Starmount and Mists of the Dawn in St. Paul, MN. The original park had a rough start and fell into ruin when the small group of players graduated college and went their separate ways.

In 2007, Kite moved back to the area and revived the park with help from Jinn, Horune and Dallaran. The park has always been big on travelling since we are in the middle of nowhere. Land's End originally fought alternating between Grand Forks and Crookston, Minnesota, as both towns have active members. In 2010, Dallaran and Goomba moved away, both exploring building parks of their own in Fargo, ND and Bemidji, MN, tentatively called Land's End South and East. Crookston (later known as Thieve's Haven) population has since waned, and the park then fought exclusively in Grand Forks.

Land's End was taken in by the Principality of Rivermoor in April, 2011, which then became the Empire of Rivermoor. In June of 2017 Land's End became a core park of Rivermoor. The park was elevated to Duchy status by Primarch Kite and Queen of Mars Saladi at Thrones, 2018.

In 2021, Lands End left Rivermoor citing irreconcilable differences, and started the petitioning process towards the Kingdom of Polaris. They made us change our name, so now we're World's End but the two are basically interchangable. We were accepted into Polaris in May 2022 and reclaimed the name in January of 2023.

Immersive history

Our flurby back story is that we are a fort-town, established to protect against the undead lands to the north (which conveniently, and unknown at the time there's a park there called Niflheim. It's gone now). We've since grown into a city-state, and villages have begun popping up nearby. We're pretty much Winterfell from Game of Thrones since before that was a thing... oh, that was 1996? Well, since before I had heard about it. Whatever. Maybe Nordopolica then.

Geographically, we're a fork in the great river, forming 3 sections of the town. An overland route across a divide to the west leads to the Crimson River, and eventually to Crimson Plains, and a small mountain range to the north through the petrified pass, or by continuing through the gorge on the great river leads to Wildgard. Five towers surrounding the town were built; the oldest in the southeast, the newest in the southwest (with a top resembling the Rivermoor Crown renovated to just be a normal tower) which was finally completed to commemorate being brought into the Empire. Walls were built not on the perimeter, but started as patchwork defenses that were later completed into a series of short mazes and gates that can quickly section off portions of the town. The towers are upkept by occupying nobles; Duke Kite, Countess Silvia, Dreadlord Fuzz, Peasant Baron Marstone and Viscount Yosei no Kasu.

There are many more towers at this point tbh. Maybe I'll list them. They are references to actual landmarks in the area. Marstone 's Peasant cube has been demolished but not forgotten.

We were the first chapter in North Dakota.
