The Morrigan Tournament was created in 2020 by Countess Squire [[Guin]] Llewellyn, a woman fighter out of the Pacific Northwest. At the time non-men tournaments had really fallen off the map in the PNW, and were beginning to make a comeback. This tournament is designed to be a longer competition to ensure fighters get to show true prowess, no matter the number of participants. The goal is to grow the community for women and non-binary fighters, and ensure that non-men tournaments don't disappear in the PNW again.

The Morrigan Tournament will be submitted to be a corpora addition to the Northern Lights Corpora by 2022, and the hope is that it passes. This would become the first non-men tournament in the PNW to become a standardized event.

This winter's Morrigan Tournament will be taking place at [[Dragons of Fire Valley]], on December 18th 2021. The tournament will begin at 1pm Sharp. Sign ups will close at 12:30pm, followed by a weapons check and rules explanation of the tournament.

The tournament will be a "modified" round robin, where all participants will fight each other twice (10+ participants will make for two pools). Fights will be ran in a way where streaks will be counted. The top 6 or 8 players with the most fights in each category will than be seeded into a single elim bracket (Final fight best 2/3). Placements will be scored as follows: 1st Place - 6 points; 2nd Place - 3 points; 3rd place - 1 point. Points will be totaled to give an overall winner.  A tie for overall placement will result in a fight best 2 out of 3 - participants will do a single fight of Single, Flo, and Sword & Board to determine the winner.

The Morrigan Tournament

Currently a kingdom level women's/non-binary tournament in the Kingdom of Northern Lights, located in Washington State.
Blackspire is beginning to incorporate the Morrigan Tournament into their plans, we will see where that leads for BS!

The first Amtgard Crown Tournament was won by a woman. Women and Non-binary players have every right to be respected and feared on the battlefield, The Morrigan Tournament will help ensure we continue to push ourselves. We need to build our community and ensure we have the knowledge to succeed.

Tournament Heraldry

History

Coming behind a history of women/non-binary tournaments in the Kingdom of the Northern Lights, the Morrigan Tournament was named in 2020 by Countess Squire Guin Llewellyn, a woman fighter out of the Pacific Northwest. This tournament is designed to be a competition where non-men fighters are supported and celebrated. The goal is to grow the community for women and non-binary fighters, and ensure that non-men tournaments don't disappear in the PNW.

The Morrigan Tournament was added to the Northern Lights corpora March 2022! This is a big step for Women and Non-Binary fighters in the PNW.

The Dec 2021 and May 2022 tournaments were ran as InterKingdom Tournaments hosted by both Northern Lights and BlackSpire.
