Biography

Remembered more for his abrasive personality and being the first Amtgardian to be labeled a Flurb than his contributions to the game, Omar was a notable figure around the turn of the century.

Joined Amtgard in 1998 in a group called Clan Cralincia (later Blackrock Hills), in West Virginia. Established himself early on, serving as PM for several terms until being elected as Sheriff. Formed the Falcon Guard with childhood friends Omm and Tusk, whom Omar also got into the game. Assisted in renaming the group to Blackrock Hills, as well as encouraging the group to play by the Amtgard Rules of Play, rather than making up 'house rules' that suited them. This began what would be a long history of conflict within the game.

Throughout 1999 helped to encourage BRH members to travel to local groups. Traveled to the Wetlands to personally petition for sponsorship. Brought back modern weapon tech and the notion that there is a larger world of Amtgard than what is just in WV. Organized trips to nearby groups, including Falconridge and the Sea of Rhye.

As Sheriff of BRH, helped organize the Rising Winds raid on the Shire, helping to propel it to Barony status when many of the new players decided to stay. His style of leadership bothered many people who played, eventually leading to the formation of another group in the region, Drakenwulf Mire. BRH continued to flourish with Omar as Baron. While some had issues with him, he brought stability to a group that had never known it, and brought them out of their isolation.

Left BRH in 2000 to travel first to Granite Spyre in the Wetlands, then to Darkmoon in the Iron Mountains. Became active with the Barony and continued his habit of conflict with the established hierarchy. Served as Prime Minister of the Duchy of Darkmoon before leaving the group to found Seven Waters in 2002.

Forming a new group turned out to be a good move, as Seven Waters grew in size through the year. At Rakis he accepted the offer of Shire Status on behalf of the group from Emperor Belgarion. He continued to work with the group in recruiting so that it would thrive through the coming winter. In recognition of his work through the year and a half of its existence, Omar was given the title of Baron by Emperor Lief at Rakis in 2003.

After building Seven Waters up from a minor freehold to a full Shire in the Iron Mountains, an ironic reversal of roles lead him into conflict with other veteran players who were new to the group. Worn out from over five years of near-constant conflict and dealing with personal issues in his mundane life Omar left the game in the fall of 2003. He resigned as Imperial GMR mid-term, severed all ties to 7W, and burned as many bridges in the shire as he could before he left (as was his style).

Since then he has attempted to maintain some contact with the game. Returned to Darkmoon to play briefly after Severn Waters ceased to exist, and made an effort to repair some of the damage he did while active in the game. While not currently active in Amtgard, he is a member of the SCA in Colorado Springs, as well as Melee another LARP in the area.
