An Alternate Class refers to Classes which, while not a part of any Official Amtgard Rules of Play versions, were allowed in certain Kingdoms to allow for more variety in both Character Design and Battlegame Tactics.
Examples
Although throughout Amtgard there were many Alternate Classes, not every class was allowed to be played in every Kingdom.
Popular Examples of Alternate Classes include:
New Alt Classes
Some groups, particularly Tetsu Bonzai have created more Alternate Classes. Within Tetsu these classes mostly exists to open up more Persona Archtypes. They use them as regular classes but are aware of the technically illegal status of that action. And regular class levels are a prerequisit to the Alt Classes as they call them. Currently, as of July 2 2008, their Alternate classes are:
Master Classes
In addition to Alt Classes, Tetsu Bonzai has created Mastery Level Classes for anyone that has achieved Lv. 6 + an addition 13 credits in any one class.
They are as follows:
Warrior: Legendary Warrior
Barbarian: Elder Barbarian
Monk: Prophet
Archer: Marksman
Scout: Ranger
Assassin: Shadow Soldier
Magic Classes, and the Paladin Classes do not have master classes. Though Magic users that meet the same criterial gain an additional 5 magic points.
Notes
Although individual Kingdoms can no longer add classes to the game, many of the Dor Un Avathar suppliments contain updated rules for these "Alt Classes" which, with proper permisson, can be played as a "Monster" for the day.
