An Alternate Class refers to Classes which, while not a part of any Official Amtgard Rules of Play versions, were allowed in certain Kingdoms to allow for more variety in both Character Design and Battlegame Tactics.
Examples

In addition to Alt Classes, Tetsu Bonzai has created Mastery Level Classes for anyone that has achieved Lv. 6 + an addition 13 credits in any one class. They really aren't used anymore. Except for in quests or sometime to balance class battles when one team is way overpowered.
They are as follows:

- Monk: Prophet
- Archer: Marksman

- Assassin: Shadow Soldier
Magic Classes, and the Paladin Classes do not have master classes. Though Magic users that meet the same criterial gain an additional 5 magic points.
Notes
Although individual Kingdoms can no longer add classes to the game, many of the Dor Un Avathar suppliments contain updated rules for these "Alt Classes" which, with proper permisson, can be played as a "Monster" for the day.
