Kava introduced Sarka to the sport of hobbyhorsing and her efforts to integrate it into Amtgard through the custom monster Calvary. From thereon, Sarka became a dedicated hobbyhorse rider and created her stable Dragonfire Destriers (DFD), makes hobbyhorses and their tack, and won an online Summer League Championship in 2023. Sarka has not only helped further develop the Calvary monster but has written guides and rule sets for hobbyhorse Mounted Melee and Ring Jousting. Biography

Mundanely known as Samantha England, Sarka joined Amtgard in September of 2019 at Greenwood Keep in the Kingdom of Northern Lights, Washington State. After being invited by a coworker, she spent the week leading up to her first park day reading the Amtgard RoP and creating her persona:

  • Sarka: from the Hungarian word “sárkány”, meaning “dragon”. She loves dragons.
  • Volsung: the family name of the Norse hero Sigurd, who slew the dragon Fáfnir. She was also born on Sigurdblot, the minor holiday that celebrates this feat, and she finds it a humorous reference.
