Man was not intended to live in the Underdark, but the greed of some Men is boundless and stories of unattended treasure have long lured fools and misers into the deep depths. Most die quickly, unaccustomed and unprepared for the depredations of the Dark, but those who survive change over generations into something far less than human. Now they are little more than craven, feral scavengers lurking on the edges of our lands – the Lost, to be pitied or destroyed, or perhaps both.
