Confidence (S, Sorcery School (V7))
One of the Bardic spells.
Spell Type
Enchantment (V7), player-targeting, Sorcery school, Bard (V7) Lvl. 3
Incantation
"You are great and powerful" x5
Effects
While enchanted, player is considered one level higher. If a life was gained from the increase of level and the player died while enchanted, the loss is removed from the "extra" life and is not subtracted from his total. The player gains all abilities of the higher level.
Limitations
Each player can have this cast on them only once per game. May not be cast on magic-users or monsters.
Commentary
The prudent Confidence-carrying Bard (V7) will instruct melee/ranged members of his team to be aware of (or look up, if unaware) what abilities they gain at the next level higher, so that he/she can decide upon whom to place this Enchantment, as some players gain abilities not relevant to current gameplay, while others are unaware and as such the benefits of enchanting them with Confidence would be unknown (and thus nil). Also, using this spell upon inexperienced players is only occasionally a prudent gesture, as the spell may only be used upon a player for one life per game, meaning that whatever effect was granted may come to a very premature end.
Additionally, while Barbarians are arguably the non-magic-using profession that would most consistently and universally benefit from this spell, they are unable to bear this (and all other non-Berserk (V7)) Enchantment.
