Legion XXI "Blood Moon" AKA The Black Legion Of Caesar
”Tantum nex officium terminus”

The Symbol of the Legion is a double-headed eagle, which presents Rome, and the past and future. Behind the Eagle is the red moon, which represents the coming of Mars.
Biography
After Caesar marched on Rome and won the civil war that followed, he was blessed by his divine ancestor Venus with a vision. It foretold of of his over throwing by one who was blessed by Mars. That every same day, the priests announced that the two lovers, Mars and Venus, where once again fighting. Mars decided to bless a popular Officer of the Tenth Legion with improved battle-prowess, and after this discovery by Venus, he was cursed so that no one could remember his real name, even himself, and that no one could love him. Venus then informed Caesar of this development, and he decided that he must rid himself of any descenders within the Legions. Thus he formed the Legio XXI Bloodmoon, and filled it with his political enemies. He then gave command to this “blessed son of Mars” and ordered him to cross the Atlantic and claim lands in the name of Rome. They set sail from Gaul on March 14th 709 (44 BC). Months later, they arrive in the realm of Amtgard. After a brutal storm, they land and are attacked by an army lead by rouge wizards. This battle became known as the Battle for Red Sands, and implanted a grave mistrust of magic casters.
Uniforms The Legion has two approved uniforms, a summer and winter version. The Summer Uniform, is a off-white sleevless tunic, with red trim. The Winter is a tunic with sleeves, colored Black with red trim. Both tunics hang past the knee, but when a belt is worn over the tunic, it sits above the knee. With both uniforms, a belt and bracers must be worn. When fighting as a Legion, each Legionary's sheild has a red cover, with the gold eagle and black lighting bolts.
Cohorts
At the landing of the Legion at the shores of Amtgard, the Legion was assaulted by a force of rouge wizards. Since magic was never encountered by the Romans before, the Legion fell apart, each Cohort ether Destroyed, cut off, or missed the beach because of a storm the night piror. The Command Element has since been searching for these "Lost Cohorts." So far, the fate of each Cohort is below as known to the Prefect.
- COH I "Scorpion" - Found by the Prefect shortly after the battle of Red Sands. Currently Camped at Darkshores.
- COH II "Wolf" - Destroyed in a sea storm the night before. Later refounded, but went rouge.
- COH III "Bear" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH IV "Lion" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH V "Sphinx" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH VI "Titan" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH VII "Tiger" - Destroyed in a sea storm before the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH IIX "Dragon" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH IX "Pegasus" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
- COH X "Centaur" - Lost contact during the Battle of Red Sands.
