Biography

Verial Zarendian was raised in Ithaca with no clue to his origin except the mysterious ring he was found with and the sword sheathed in the wrappings arond him named Oscula Serpentis. He was passed around place to place until there was a place where he could be stable, bakers, blacksmiths, farmers, all failed until they placed him into military training where he actually excelled. When he came of age he was made a Warrior-Guard in King Odysseus's court. Upon the start of the Trojan War he was assigned to lead of the guard ordered to keep King Odysseus safe during the war. During the war he befriended Achilles, and fought admirably next to him. He picked up the habit of tossing his enemies a gold coin before slaying them to give to Charon for the ride into the underworld. He figured it was the least he could do for not giving them any chances. Upon watching the Trojan prince Paris kill Achilles with an arrow shot he swore vengeance on him. Verial was given leave of the guard from Odysseus and left to find Paris. He swore he was not going to return to Ithaca until he gained his revenge.

From here he wandered to Serpent's Hollow, drawn there by his sword for reasons unknown. On the way he encountered Liam Tallory, a wandering Irishman passing through Greece. Seeing a lot of promise in Liam's mind and magic, he asked Liam to help him construct his kingdom as a Chancellor, which Liam agreed to. Together they formed the foundation for Verial's land, above the subterranean caverns of a yet undiscovered giant serpent. Slowly but surely, the shire grew, adding new potential troops to his forces, and a growing chance that Troy might be besieged and his revenge realized. However, the shire is wracked with in-fighting and attacks from outside forces, so his army has yet to amount to anything resembling a force of any real power.

One fateful night whilst he was away from his shire, his castle was besieged by a group of renegade vampires led by Yves Mateo, who in that single night converted almost every member of Serpent's Hollow who was not away with Verial and claimed the shire for his own. Warned by Heißrute of the event, Verial returned and slayed Yves alongside his remaining companions, and the converted citizens returned to their former state. Not long after, Yves' lover, a bardic vampire by the name of Evangeline Claire came seeking revenge for her fallen love, a small force of fledgling vampires at her heels. They swept over the shire, claiming many casualties, until the pirate Pareidolia betrayed Verial and ensured his demise, but also the safety of himself and the rest of the shire. With Verial dead, Evangeline disappeared into the night from whence she came.

After recovering a relic that allowed their passage into the realm of Hades, Liam Tallory, Saladin, and Sen Go led an expedition into the depths to retrieve their fallen leader. After battling through a Cerberus and all manner of undead creatures, they finally found Verial, robbed of his sanity by Hades and turned into a Revenant, and believing his allies to be Prince Paris, Pareidolia, Yves Mateo, and Evangeline Claire. He fought them all, nearly defeating them before the Barbarian Ragioun Grievous managed to reunite him with his sanity by way of a circlet which contained it. After cutting down pursuing undead, they emerged back to the realm of the living once more, where Verial reclaimed his throne at Serpent's Hollow.
