The Blessed are a NPC organization created by The Bitter Coast Quest Guild for use in the ongoing Bitter Coast Quest Campaign, which has been told over several reigns.

The Blessed are a mad cadre of Wizards who live within the Barony of Brendonford. They operate the magic shop known as "The Reality Wrinkle", and are responsible for several kidnappings and experiments on Brendonford's populace.

  • HISTORY

The Blessed started as a simple group of Wizards, who wanted to experiment with what was possible through magic. They sought enlightenment and new discovery. When the Calamarian Gherlyth Axem arrived in Brendonford, he found the Wizards easily manipulated by his mental powers, and trinkets of magic. He did not reveal himself to them physically, but spoke to them in their dreams through his powers. They worshipped him as "The Speaker in Dreams", and from that point on, Gherlyth Axem had willing pawns to do his bidding.

The Blessed were ordered to kidnap the town's Paladin Alein and sacrifice him to their dark experiments. His Squire was also momentarily kidnapped, but was rescued by a group of heroes from Bitter Coast. The Blessed also allied themselves with a group of Skirits living in the town's Bell tower. The Skirits were given the task of attacking the Festival, and keeping the town guards busy while they kidnapped the Paladin, and his Squire.

The heroes of Bitter Coast, eventually followed the clues back to "The Reality Wrinkle", and made short work of the maddened Wizards. They were too late to save Alein however, who was merged into numerous other bodies, and formed into a monster known as a "Corpse Thing".

A few survivors of the Blessed joined with a group of Assassins hired by an Ogre Mage, who worked directly for Gherlyth Axem. After their deaths, and the death of Gherlyth Axem himself, it is doubtful that The Blessed will ever surface again.
