Alein
Alein is a NPC created by The Bitter Coast Quest Guild for use in the ongoing Bitter Coast Quest Campaign, which has been told over several reigns.
Alein was the resident Paladin protector of Brendonford. He was kidnapped and turned into a monster by the mad wizards of the Blessed, who were working for the Calimarin Gherlyth Axem.
During the attack on Brendonford by a band of Skirit on the occasion of a festival celebrating the end of the war between the Drow Empire and Elven Alliance, Alein fought side by side with the heroes from Bitter Coast, but the attack on the festival was only a distraction, and Gherlyth Axem attacked the Baron's Keep while the Paladin was away fighting the Skirit.
Later the Calimarin's minions, known as The Blessed kidnapped him, and also attempted to kidnap his apprentice. The heroes from Bitter Coast successfully tracked down The Blessed to a Magic Shop in Brendonford known as "The Reality Wrinkle", but were too late to save the Paladin, and were forced to slay the monster that he had now become.
