Heavy Scale

This style includes armor created with overlapping scales secured to each other along one edge against a backing to create a rigid shell rather than individually mobile scales. Scale armor with loose scales should be classified as Light Scale.

  • Is a Tier 5 armor style.
  • Must meet the Universal Equipment Requirements.
  • Scales must overlap by at least 10%.
  • The backing material must not be visible through the scales.
  • Metal must at least equivalent to Aluminum in density and durability. (2.7g/cm3)
  • The standard for Material Thickness is based on the metal used:
    • Aluminum Scales: 18ga (0.040") (1.024mm)
    • Steel Scales: 20ga (0.036") (0.911mm)
