Pacific War
Pacific War (or PacWar, for short) is an Interkingdom event that takes place annually in either Oregon or Washington. The event is hosted by the PacWar BoD in the Kingdom of Blackspire, and members of Blackspire and it's holdings may put in bids to run the event each year.
PacWar's roots can be traced back to two events held in 1997: Great Northwest War II: The Apology (a Mystic Seas event autocratted by Sir Derek Roth) and Pacific Gathering (an Inland Ocean event autocratted by Squire Calidran Lightbane). After GNWWII, which took place only a couple of months after Pacific Gathering, Calidran and Sir Derek realized that the events would end up cannibalizing each other's attendance. The two decided to combine the events into the aptly named Pacific War, funding the first event entirely with their own money. The original idea behind PacWar was for it to be a self-sustaining event - the proceeds from each year going toward funding the next event.
Sir Derek and Calidran were co-autocrats of PacWars I and II. The original theme of the event was a war between the two Northwest Kingdoms of the time, Mystic Seas and Valley of the Silver Rains. After VSR became defunct, the theme of the event has been determined by the autocrats each year. The first even drew slightly over 150 attendees, with the second making a significant jump to over 225. Attendance for the event has come close to 400 in the past, but hovers around 250-300 on average.
After PacWar II, both Sir Derek and Calidran decided to hand off the autocratting reigns to a new crew. After being unsuccessful finding successors on their own, they entrusted the event to the Kingdom of the Mystic Seas, who ran the event until merging into Kingdom of Blackspire, which runs it to this day.
