History
I came across Amtgard in the Western Dragon Hills in Carson City, Nevada in the summer of 2001. I discovered that my home state of Wyoming had no Amtgard influence and since I was returning home for college in the summer of 2002,I brought out the swords and rule book, got my friends together and we started a park called Truevale that fall. The local community college was gracious enough to let us into the official clubs of the campus, then with my now wife Katinar Basane and my friends Blackie Lawless, Rayne, and to many others to mention we got off the ground and got the necessary paperwork to the Burning Lands. Shortly after our start we got our visit from the now Dutchy of Rivers End a growing Utah park. With that visit we got our first real taste of what Amtgard was about, thanks to Fitz and the group from Rivers End. We attended Salt Wars 2 that Summer of 2003, and we were impressed by the attention to detail that the group put forth for the event. We continued communication with Rivers End, and by then our numbers had swelled to 25-30 people a game day. Shortly after Salt Wars 3 we joined the Principality of Desert Winds that consisted of the Dutchy of Rivers End and the Barony of Desert Rose. It was obvious to us that we were doing well however: we encountered some drama and social problems that hurt the numbers, but we traversed on not stopping. We saw some dear members come and go, many a battle game played in the city of Rock Springs, WY.
Here we are in 2008 and we are now the Barony of Truevale, proud members of the now Kingdom of Desert Winds!
We keep the dream alive here in the Wyoming desert, Flurb and stick-jock alike. Come and join us if you are in the area, we would be happy to have your company.
