Metal Chainmail
Flexible armor consisting of a weave of interlocked metal rings.
Requirements:
- Any weave is permitted but it must not allow a 1/2” dowel to pass through.
- Metal must be at least equivalent to Aluminum in density and durability. (2.7g/cm3)
- If Aluminum - 1.3mm / 0.05” / 16swg
- If Steel - 1mm / 0.04” / 18swg
- Must contain at least 95% metal rings
- Aspect ratio 8 or less.
Examples of Superior Construction include, but are not limited to:
- Heavy Metal: Steel, Bronze, and similar density metals.
- Thicker Material: At least 2mm / 0.08" / 14swg
- Dense Weave: Does not allow a 1/8” dowel to pass through.
- Solid Rings: All rings are permanently joined so they cannot be separated.
- Reinforced: Durability is meaningfully enhanced with other materials in a way that doesn’t qualify for higher tiers.
