Scalemail

This style includes armor created with many overlapping metal plates secured to each other by a chain weave. Individual scales are not held into firm contact with the others. For the more rigid armor with scales secured to a backing, see Scale Armor.

  • Is a Tier 4 armor style.
  • Must meet the Universal Equipment Requirements.
  • Metal must be at least equivalent to Aluminum in density and durability. (2.7g/cm3)
  • Scales can be an size and thickness so long as they do not bend or dent when struck.
  • Scales must overlap by at least 10%.
  • The standard Material Thickness for rings is based on the metal used:
    • Aluminum Round Rings: 16awg (0.051") (1.290mm)
    • Aluminum Flat Rings: 16ga (0.051") (1.291mm)
    • Steel Round Rings: 18awg (0.040") (1.024mm)
    • Steel Flat Rings: 18ga (0.048") (1.214mm)
