PacWar's roots can be traced back to two events held in 1997: Great Northwest War II: The Apology (a Mystic Seas event autocratted by Sir Derek Roth) and Pacific Gathering (an Inland Ocean event autocratted by Squire Calidran Lightbane). After GNWWII, which took place only a couple of months after Pacific Gathering, Calidran and Sir Derek realized that the events would end up cannibalizing each other's attendance.
