Origin
"Skinned MTG Cards" were the inspiration for this (the first such series was the "Godzilla" themed cards in the Ikoria set). Skinned Cards are a special Magic: The Gathering card which feature pop-culture characters from outside the Magic universe as a "skin" overlay, with themed alternate artwork and flavor text, and an additional card name, under which the original name is also printed.
Using this framework as an inspiration, ^this system began, wherein normal non-custom Talismans from the Amtgard rulebook get similarly renamed or "skinned" in honor of notable individuals from the Amtgard kingdoms of NL, BS, and VO.
