Held
Anything carried using one or more hands is considered Held.
Free Hand
Also known as an 'Open Hand'. Some rules may require a Free Hand in order to perform an action, cast, or carry an object. For these purposes, a Free Hand is the hand of an unwounded arm, which is not holding any equipment other than the material components required by the action.
- Medium, Large, and Tower Shields that are worn on an arm will always take up the respective Free Hand, regardless of whether they are actually being held by the handle.
- Bucklers and Small Shields that are solidly worn on the arm will not count against a Free Hand, even while holding the handle.
- Free Hand Exception (⬗): Abilities listings marked with ⬗ do not require a free hand.
