Scale Armor
This style includes armor created with many overlapping metal plates secured against a backing along only one edge. Individual scales are not held into firm contact with the others.
- Is a Tier 5 armor style.
- Must meet the Universal Equipment Requirements.
- Scales must overlap by at least 10%.
- The backing material must not be visible through the scales.
- Metal must be at least equivalent to Aluminum in density and durability. (2.7g/cm3)
- The standard for Material Thickness is based on the metal used:
- Aluminum: 16ga (0.051") (1.291mm)
- Steel: 18ga (0.048") (1.214mm)
