More aquatic Monsters

Many of the Monsters from the Dor Un Avathar X are suitable for use in an aquatic or nautical type battlegame. A few of the more obvious examples are listed below. Descriptions in parenthesis are suggestions on how these monsters might be incorporated.

Pirates of Other Species

In a fantasy world, humans don’t have a monopoly on either piracy or naval might. It is easy to imagine any of the below-listed races either building navies of their own or being pressed into service aboard a pirate ship.

Catperson, Dwarf, Elf, Frost Giant (they are really big Vikings, after all!), Goblin, Lepus, Medusa, Minotaur, Orc

Aquatic and Amphibious Races

While not necessarily sea-faring, many species live in or near saltwater enclaves, owing to easy access to food and the plunder of less savage neighbors, and can pose a serious hazard to anyone foolish enough to approach their territory.

Lizard Men, Scalor, Troglodyte

Monsters at Sea

Less intelligent Monsters also congregate near bodies of water, either for the purposes of hunting or just virtue of random proximity. Whether otherworldly visitor, magical beast or more mundane creature, caution is warranted when encountering any such monster on the open seas.

Elemental (Air and Water, particularly, enjoy causing trouble for seafarers everywhere), Entangling Mass (an animate portion of a giant Seaweed Bed, aggressive and difficult to escape, particularly once you’re in the water!), Harpy (a flock of nasty birds nest near the shore and harass both sailors and overland travelers alike)

Undead Pirate Crew

Not even death can stop the depredations of the very worst villains. Though whatever fell magic spawns such evil, the ranks of the walking dead shamble toward an endless hell of pillaging and plundering, while never feeling the glory of honest battle nor the joy of their illgotten gains. They are bound, cursed and unable to shake their dreaded fate without brave heroes to send them down to their eternal rest in Davy Jones’ locker.

Ghost, Ghoul, Skeleton, Zombie
