Triple Midreign in the CK (Article)

From AmtWiki

The triple midriegn for Mystic Springs, Slaughter Creek and Talonfield was a well run single day event. The Asian theme added subtle flavor to the activities, the decorations and the feast. Paper lanterns were scattered throughout the trees surrounding the main gathering area. The feast consisted of hand rolled eggrolls, kabobs and a fortune cookie.

The event had a good mix of fighting and non-fighting activities. Plenty of ditching for the fighters as well as an A&S tourney for the artisans. The Asian theme was even reflected in the A&S entries with a painting of a samurai and a more modern Anime styled caricature of the Mystic Springs populous. Other activities, such as the Yen Tourney and the obstacle course, mixed physical fitness with Amtgard styled fun. There is some debate as to whether the obstacle course was more entertaining for the competitors or to the audience.

If there were any doubts as to how well this event was going, they were washed away as it started to rain. Rather than slipping off to their cars to head somewhere dryer, the fighters kept fighting and everyone else kept socializing albeit under the trees.

Despite the rain, feast and court proceeded smoothly. Feast was served before court. There was plenty of food for everyone, even vegetarian options. Each of the three parks was given a chance to talk and pass out awards. Time was even allotted for visitors to bring forth announcements. The defender of Mystic Springs did an excellent job of "controlling" the audience and adding the touch of intrigue we used to see in Amtgard park level courts years ago. As court ended, preparations for the day's quest began.

In conclusion, this was a fun event and well worth traveling to. It reminded me of the detail put into park level events when I first started Amtgard in the mid-nineties
