Biography
Rook hates writing about himself. He particularly hates writing third-person accounts of himself to document his whole deal while pretending to be impartial, but he will do his best.
Rook started playing Amtgard in 2018 in the Barony of Iron Keep, where he quickly fell in love with whacky bats, battlegaming, and service. He was eventually introduced to the wizard class, developed a mildly unhealthy obsession with it, and proceeded to play nothing but wizard for the next four years.
After being forced to move away from Iron Keep to attend school in Corvallis, Rook's best friend in the whole wide world Panifex got sick of hearing him complain about there being no nearby Amtgard parks. Panifex made a legendary promise: If Rook would file the paperwork to establish a Freehold, Panifex would come down at least every other week to bring gear and ensure that Rook didn't have to run a park alone.
So after Panifex filed the paperwork, the Freehold of Satyr's Hollow was born. Through the help of too many names to count, Satyr's Hollow proceeded to explode in growth over the next two years, ascending first to Barony in 2023 and then to Duchy in 2024. Rook still isn't entirely sure how they managed this, but has been grateful nonetheless.
When not battlegaming, thinking about battlegaming, reeving a battlegame, or complaining about battlegames, Rook enjoys serving his holding and his kingdom as well as writing, crafting, and whacking nerds. He maintains a blog about wizards, battlegames, and the occasional foray into Amtgard Hot Takes™ called The Babbling Rook. He's also a self-styled amateur LARP historian and is always happy to discuss or learn about the history of Amtgard, particularly Pacific Northwest Amtgard.
