History
The Kingdom of the Golden Plains was founded as a Shire of the Emerald Hills in Amarillo, Texas, in 1988, attaining status as a Barony nearly six months to the day later (in 1989). Boldwen Reinholt, who helped found the Shire after moving up from Dallas, served as the Golden Plains' first (and only) Sheriff and also served as its first Baron when the Plains achieved Barony status after only six months of existence. His midreign was attended by King Landolf and a delegation from the Emerald Hills. The Golden Plains' first baronial coronation for somebody specifically elected to that title was held in September of 1989, when Donar ascended to the Barony. The coronation was attended by Queen Alessandra Cheetarah Nightowl and another large contingent from the Hills. This event was noteworthy because it was interrupted by a band of unusual spell-using Ogres. The Golden Plains become the fourth Amtgard Kingdom in 1992, (1 month before the Iron Mountains). A delegation from the Burning Lands was in attendance.

The Golden Plains meets Sunday Afternoon, 3:00 P.M. at Memorial park, Washington St, behind Amarillo College.
Directions from I-27: Take Washington Street exit. Go North on Washington Street. There will be signs indicating Amarillo College on the east (right) side of the street. The park is on the south side of the college.
Directions from I-40: Take Washington Street exit. Go South on Washington Street. There will be signs indicating Amarillo College on the east (left) side of the street. The park is on the south side of the college.
