Discord Presents

A privately funded Event of the Kingdom of the Rising Winds.

DATE CHANGE & GATE FEE CHANGE

Stick-Jock version - Discord is now April 25-27 at Sherwood Forest. Gate is now $10. Epic Dickery we won't forget was done.

Full version - Okay I am sorry this is so short notice, but as the site owners failed to mention a tiny detail to us until the other day we had to scramble. DISCORD WILL NOW BE HELD ON APRIL 25-27, BUT GATE WILL ONLY BE $10!!

Discord got double-booked with a paintball event, and despite the fact that we paid the deposit first, our maybe 3k we'd generate just can't stand up to the 13k-15k they're looking at for the paintballers. As mad as I personally, from a business perspective at this point they'd have to hand back more money than we've given them to cancel the paintballers they'd be making 4x what they'd be getting from us.

So Discord will be $10/head to get in and will be April 25-27 at Sherwood Forest. It screws us, but its the only time in the next few months they have open.

Discord Presents: Tortuga

The 2008 Discord event is named Tortuga, an event made up of three different events.

April 25-27, 2008

Sherwood Forest Paintball, LaPorte, IN

$10 entry fee

Tortuga Theme

The Bacardi Bat (Tempest) & Captain Morgan (Smurf) are meet in battle to decide which is the better Rum. This battle is a major inconvenience for the town of Tortuga which is where they happen to have run across each other for this battle.

While the objective of the event is the most castle victories, you will lose if you ignore the role-play component, and both play off one another. Just like a real war, your fighters do the fighting while your strategists develop the plan that will guide you to ultimate victory!

Heat

Heat is a numeric formula that indicates how much the town dislikes each of the teams (Bacardi & Captain Morgan).

The Event can not be won by only paying attention to only one aspect of the event.

The War-events cause Heat, due to the fighting going on near the town.

The Flurb-events (Role-play) can reduce "Heat" (if successfully done) as well as gain advantages for the teams. But be careful because if you handle the mini quests wrong they can get you even more heat.

Activities done in town can gain or reduce Heat based upon what is occuring.

Even if a team wins all of the fighting events, if they have too much heat they may lose the event.

Flurb Events

36 interlinked quests that start on Friday and run until the last person falls over from exhaustion.

With everything from a Romeo and Juliet style Love Story, to an old soldier looking to leave a legacy, to a shadowy thieves' guild, a traveling master assassin, a sorcerers' tower where you can play all your casting classes at once.

This is a flurbs wet dream with over 40 interlocking and stand alone mini quests there is something for EVERYONE!

But bring more than your imagination cause some of these mini quests are designed to be truly challenging.

A warning to all those who like to settle everything with a sword. Tortuga has a no violence policy so there are times where a sword comes in handy and others where it will only get you into trouble.

Town Stuff

Gruel (Oatmeal) served throughout the event, if you don't like oatmeal then bring extra money to purchase food from some of our food merchants.

Activities set up to entertain and keep active (A&S areas set up to demo/learn, games in the tavern) Merchants of various types set up to make the town run well. (Merchants are standard type and roleplay oriented).

A booth set up in town where pictures for "Amtcards" are going to be taken along with filling out of the information needed to obtain the card.

More to come from Kathrynn later.

Bid Process

Discord '09!

Effective Discord '08, the overall operation of Discord will be overseen by a Board of Directors currently consisting of Katzu the Farquestor, Kathrynn St. James, and Archmalice Barbobot. However, the point is to give the people the best possible event we can, and to do that we're opening the door to submissions.

Stick-jock version - Your idea wins and we will fund and support the Discord event you will run!

For those familiar with the way Wizards of the Coast chose the Eberron game world, the bid system will be similar.

* ROUND 1 - Starting May 12th and going until June 1st, the Discord BoD will accept a 1-page summary of your Discord event idea to [email protected]. These bids will be sealed until June 1st, after which the Board will select either the best 1/4 of the bids or the best 2, whichever is greater. We will contact the event designers of the winning bids no later than June 15th to enter round 2.

* ROUND 2 - The finalists will each have until August 1st to develop the full event write-up, get their full crat staff together, and supply the board a fully designed 'frame' for the event. These will again be submitted to [email protected] and shall remained sealed until the deadline, after which the winning bid will be selected no later than August 15.

* STIPULATIONS - Only the winning event write-up becomes 'property' of the Discord board of directors (with the caveat that the writer can submit the event as their own work into A&S tournies for judging purposes.) If the winning entry has not reached 'finishing touches' stage of development by February 1st, 2009, the Discord board reserves the right to take over the event and complete it, though doing so shall be an extreme move to make sure the event happens and won't be used to screw somebody out of credit.

Putting this out there so aspiring autocrats can come to Discord with an eye towards running it.
