History

The Desert Moon's earliest inception of the Chapter (non-contracted) was in the summer of 1999 in Reno, NV by NeonDevil and a small group of individuals from Alpha Omega Games to test the potential of Amgard to the Northern Nevada areas. Participation levels dwindled quickly, however, possibly because aspects of live-action role-playing genres and medieval combat sports were new to the area.

The Desert Moon's revival in March 2002 (non-contracted) lies in the success from a nearby chapter, the Western Dragon Hills (Carson City, NV). At the time, a handful of Reno residents would frequently make the 45-60 minute drive to attend a Sunday practice. It was inevitable that the Reno residents would re-start the chapter; NeonDevil, Jennifer "Seabell" Stauffer, and Cody "Warhawk" Baker hosted Saturday practices with a minor average of 5-10 attendees, most of which were helpful Carson City Amtgarders. Unforseen events prevented the Reno members from attending practices in early 2003.

This Reno chapter has had a significant boost in participation when it started it official contracted practices in September 2003, starting in a new location with a new reign of committed members dedicated to the success of the chapter. NeonDevil, Adam "Sagel" Roby, and Candice "Juniper" McCasland saw higher attendance average from a wide spread of new players.

With over 70+ eligible parks in the Reno/Sparks area, the chapter has moved its official location several times with hopes to increase awareness and overall participation with the group.

Whenever possible, the Desert Moon chapter hosts major annual events, such as Winter War in January, and Solstice Bloodshed in June.
