Amtgard Song
Amtgard
I wrote this filk to the tune of "Rodeo" by Garth Brooks. I first sung it at Clan XVII during Scarhart's roving bardic. This is by far my most requested filk.

His body's old and broken
His knees are almost shot.
He's about to lose his girlfriend,
He's already lost his job.
But there's a tournament tomorrow
He's already packed the car,
Just ask him why he does it
It's that game they call Amtgard!
Well it's Knights and Squires, it's a Wizard's fire
It's the head on a mug of stout,
It's the shot that you felt, the sword and the spells
He'll cast in his next life out.
Well it's Plate and Mail, It's Pikes and Flails
It's shields both small and large
It's the foam and the tape in the swords that we make
As we play the game called Amtgard!
His girlfriend wants to see him
When he's got some time,
But if his friends aren't with him
Then he talks to them online
Or he's sewing up a tunic
After a trip to Wal-Mart
Ya know, she'd probably get to see him
If she learned to play Amtgard!
We'll play it in the nighttime
And We'll play it in the rain
And We'll play it when we're drunk or stoned
And We'll Play when we're in pain!
So get you a sword and a few awards
I tell you its not hard
To find yourself addicted
To this dream we call Amtgard!
It's the parries and thrusts
It's the booze and lust
It's the game that we call Amtgard!
