- When a Weapon is termed "Black" it means that that Weapon is poisonous, or will result in death. A hold over from the Dagorhir Rulebook that has little or no meaning today.
- If a Sash is black, it means that the wearer is playing an assassin.
- If a strip is black it means Poison or other Death Magic.
- If someone is wearing White face paint and a Black armband they are probably a Vampire.
- The colour black in heraldry is called Sable.
