From The Stick Jock’s Dictionary - Flanking AKA Turning and Burning: Is the fine art of engaging the last fighter on the opposing team’s line, killing them as quickly as possible, and then running inwardly down the line engaging and killing at an angle. This forces the opposing team's line to either disrupt and scatter, or close in on itself giving your team a better (coordinated) chance to win.
The Chosen are especially infamous for "running the flank". Some elite fighters do not approve of flanking maneuvers, and instead call it "backstabbing" -- but will tend to stay on the flanks as it gives them freedom to maneuver, and more control over the situation.
