I V8 there is only one type of Bow

A Short Bow is any bow not large enough to be a Long Bow (V7). It may also apply to what would normally be a long bow, but is wielded by a class unable to use Longbows, such as Barbarian or Assassin. Druids may also use short bows if they pay the requisite 5 Magic Points (V7).

In the upcoming 7.5 Revision, bows will cease to do damage based upon actual physical size, and instead will be dependent upon class abilities, allowing a dinky plastic "fairy bow" to do as much damage as a hand-carved, to-allowable-tension-limit longbow. All the same, the quality of the bow still affects the real accuracy and range of the user, but user skill will soon play a greater role in determining the efficiency of any bow.
