Biography
Jerago first came to life in the mind of a 15 year old D&D player who craved something more physical than dice roles. He studied castles, arms, and armor until her moved North from the mundane location of Eugene, Oregon, to Cornellius, Oregon. Luck provided that a neighbor of his (remembered only as Bishop) both loved D&D, and knew of a group that was more fund-friendly than the S.C.A., and added some elements of fantasy that sounded appealing
He sparred relentlessly with his cousins and Bishop in await of meeting his new rivals and friends at "Rogers Park, in what was known as "Mystic Seas" (no holding name) during his time there (1996-97).
He arrived his first day in the finest of peasant garb--a light brown tunic and a loose-woven sheet of green cloth sewn (which is still used on every favored weapon, 13 years later) onto a pair of shorts as a form of kilt, though enthusiasm and lack of skill almost proved fatal.
During his first ditch battle with nearly thirty competitors (a number only dreamed of at that age), he charged full onto Bishop and knocked him backwards onto a stump--ever battle afterwards has reminded him to use his finesse, and not his strength.
Jerago remained a member of the Rogers Park Chapter of Mystic Seas for 9-11 months, then moved back to Eugene.
As the internet was still young, and he was clueless as to what a Eugene group might be called, and it took Jerago nearly a year to find the park that members practiced at--Alton Baker Park, home of The (once) Duchy (and now Shire) of Iron Keep.
He found a park that typically gathered 50+ players on Saturday, and at least 20 members on Sunday. His younger years were spent meeting the locals and enjoying what was perhaps the grandest of parks ever to see weekly Amtgard events. While parking was shoddy, it was common to see upwards of 80 people during some events when people from the other V.S.R. holdings came down, and even more when Mystic Seas visited. Rumor has it that there could be as many as 100 local people on a Saturday only a few year prior.
Jerago honed his scouting abilities while at this park, and earned his Master Scout for his prowess on the field with an accompaniment of a shield, rapier, maine guache, and a long-bow loaded with 7 arrows, of which he was once quite proficient with.
He fondly remembers the many quests, events, and friends he made there.
During this time, he became a squire, first to Sir Trevar (who then went inactive), and then to Grand Duke Sir Blade, beating out over 20 hopefuls for the privilege of learning from one of V.S.R.'s finest members.
He is now Squired to Sir Nicademus, a Knight of the Flame.
During the middle part of this three years at Iron Keep, an endangered bird forced their meeting location to move, and he lost the bow he so loved due to legal issues with the city officials.
He served as a member of every Duchy office (though only Regent for 15 minutes) during his time there, which was from 1998 to 2001.
Jerago left due to an auto accident where he was rear-ended at 60+ miles per hour, and several other life -changing issues that occurred at that time.
After a few years after recovery, he searched several times for Iron Keep, but had no luck until the beginning part of 2008.
He returns older, a little rusty, and more skilled in A&S, which he kept up with thorough his travels through life.
Jerago loves the A&S more than any other aspect of Amtgard--as it is part of Amtgard he can do at home--with the exception of scoring a good hit with an arrow from range.
He has crafted two styles of chaine maille, several pieces of leather armor, brigandine, and mixed leather/chain. He is also a decent tailor and learned the art of blade-smithing from Grand Duke Sir Hawk.
His personal goals are to help raise numbers in Iron Keep, the Kingdom of Black Spire, and to help create enthusiasm about the construction and use of armour.
So far, Jerago has convinced 7 people to purchase half-hides of leather, and will be teaching classes in Iron Keep with Sir Valerus. He also has plans to travel as needed to aid in this, as he believes that a garbed group may be a healthy group, but an armoured group is an attractive group (especially to mundane members of society).
