The Combat PortalEdit Combat is a very involved aspect of Amtgard, from ditching with a few friends to huge battlegames with hundreds of people. There are numerous styles of fighting, like sword and board or Florentine, and a variety of tools of the trade. People build their boffer weapons using a variety of cores, foams, and techniques past down from one craftsman to another.

Featured articleEdit Microcell foam, also known as "MC", is a type of closed-cell polyethylene foam which is treated in an EVA process making the cell structures highly uniform and considerably smaller than normal closed-cell foams. This results in pressure being more evenly spread through the foam, leading to reduced cell failures, higher durability, and increasingly low moisture absorption coefficients. Outside of foam combat, MC foam is often used industrially as a thermal insulator, flotation device, and packing material. This material makes for a stiff, yet durable sword blade.
