Zol's Castle Defacing Incident

From AmtWiki

An unfortunate incident in which Zol's Castle was defaced with magic markers at Spring War III in 1996.

Prelude

In the months prior to Spring War III, Ivar Nefarious, who was Zol's knight, had released a humorous A&S entry depicting many of the well known knights in the game as cards for the popular Magic: The Gathering card game. Most of them were poking fun at their targets, e.g., his own card read "Summon Womanizer", Aramithris' read "Summon Drunk", etc.

For Nevron Dreadstar's card, he put down "Summon Boy Kicker". This was a reference to the Nevron Kicking Incident and reportedly angered Nevron, who had believed this incident behind him. Ironically his outrage at it served to in fact bring it to the limelight, and many people who would have never gotten the reference now knew of it.

The Defacing

Some time during the night a number of people snuck over to the castle and wrote graffiti all over it in large permanent markers.

Anyway, reportedly the incident was not done by Nevron personally, but done by some people on his behalf, whether explicitly instructed to do so or implied is unclear, it may have been along the lines of the Thomas Becket affair...

Many of the people who did do it were easy to identify since their names were signed in the graffiti they drew. One witness was reportedly threatened with harm if she told of what she saw.

Aftermath

The next day most of those involved attempted to help clean up and undo what they did, but it remained hugely controversial, many calling for Nevron's head or at least his belts.
