Biography
Mundane Name: Nicholas
Has been in Amtgard since 2002, and intimately involved in shaping his home park, Riverstone, since that time. Has assumed control of Riverstone on several occasions, and was responsible for setting up a relationship between Riverstone and Emerald Hills after the failure of Tal Dagore. Currently on an "on again off again" status after moving to Louisiana to go to college, and finding no nearby shires to play with. Yusheng still makes occasional trips to events, as well as working more on building a net presence.
IC: Yusheng was born the son of a merchant within a wandering caravan. His father had planned on him learning to be a blacksmith, and eventually working with him in leading the traveling caravan on its annual route. Experiencing life as a merchant was too adventureless however, and after spending his youth hearing about stories of heroes and valor from the bards in the caravan, he decided to make his way in the world by running away to seek it out. However, without any practical knowledge of the outside world, he found himself sorely at a loss, almost dying of exhaustion near a far off Temple. However, his story wouldn't be very interesting like that, so the monks there took him in, giving him the name Yusheng, and training him in the martial arts, trying to tame his Western naive boyishness with rigorous training, and being half successful about it.
However, as the years went by, a revolt in the nearby kingdom started a bloody revolution against a corrupt government. The government, though undeserving of support, sought help from the monks, who were well respected with the people of the kingdom. It was believed that if the monks supported the government, the people would back down and accept them once more. The government made half-hearted promises that they would change afterward, and the monks eventually agreed, believing that a possible end to the war would save lives on both sides. Yusheng, however, refused the judgment, saying that it was more important to fight corruption than to pander to them for lives. Because the support of the government had to be unanimous, the Temple had to send Yusheng away from the kingdom, sending him off with enough supplies to take him somewhere else.
After wandering around for a while, Yusheng eventually found a home in the newly established settlement of Riverstone. He made a few small journeys to other kingdoms for brief periods of time, but shortly after set up a small sanctuary several miles on the outside of the town's walls. The Sanctuary has grown over the years, and was once even used as an evacuation point when an undead army took the main town of Riverstone. He has made friends with all of the major people within Riverstone, and currently pops in and out with them when the need arises. (Yes, I'm a flurb, how can you tell?)
