User talk:Andronious
It's not about the individual honesty of a particular player. It's a policy throughout the Amtwiki. Namely: Amtwiki is not a record keeping service. Don't store your awards, credits, etc here. There was a discussion on the subject on e-sam a while back.
As I see it, there are at least 3 reasons not to list credits, levels, or awards (though not all of them apply in your case):
- Copy-n-paste from ORK is just redundant info. There's an ORK link at the bottom of folks' pages for a reason.
- Too easy to forge, and not just by the person the page is about. Anyone can add or remove anything on a whim. Admins tend to restore vandalism, but the point remains.
- Maintaining multiple copies of the same information sucks. If a PM has to update the ORK, their paper records, AND the Amtwiki every time someone earns their first order of the Foo, chances are stuff will get missed in one place or another.
This has nothing to do with you personally. You are, in all likelihood, a decent human being who wouldn't lie about a 1st order X or Y. This is a policy, and I think it is a good one.
There are two wiki-based ways around this.
- Add the awards, save the page (with a descriptive comment to make it easy for you to find later), remove the awards, save the page. They'll still be buried in the page's history, but won't be there to trouble the casual observer.
- Add them to a discussion page. Discussion pages are essentially unmonitored, and you can put whatever you like there.
- The player discussion page
- The user discussion page (this page right here)
IMNSHO, the best way to work this out is to brow-beat your PM until they start using the ORK. It's really not that hard. <-- personal experience.
