Emmeryn Nightingale:

A female Half-Elven Scout. 120 years old. Full member in the Saracens Fighting Company. Originated from an alternate version of Middle Earth where the Elves never left.

Bio: I was born in the middle of the Fourth Age, in Rivendell, Middle Earth. I am the granddaughter of Queen Arwen and King Ellesar of the reunited kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor. The Urukhai, Trolls, and bandits had been dwindling in number for the last 200 years, after my grandfather, Ellesar (Aragorn), and Elrond - the Lord of Rivendell - fought together in battle against the remaining Urukhai and other evil beings, after the One ring that had once belonged to the dark lord Sauron, was finally destroyed. Things for the future were looking prosperous since the Dwarves, High Elves, Hobbits and Men were all at peace with the world, and an alliance had been created between Dwarves and Elves, due to Lord Gimli and Legolas' (son of Thranduil, prince of Mirkwood) friendship that had been developed throughout the War of the Ring.

My father, Eldarion, is the current king of Gondor and Arnor. My mother, Lady Nostariel of Rivendell, is the great Granddaughter of a noble of Rivendell. Ellesar and Arwen both passed away 155 years ago, so I had never met them.

However, that makes me the Princess of Arnor and Gondor, and a Lady of Rivendell! Although nobility seems to be an exciting thing to many, it's actually very tiresome and boring. All of the lessons over mathematics and embroidery are the worst. However, I loved learning the languages of the world, such as Woodelven and Gondorian Sindarin, the common tongue, and other languages such as Quenya, and I loved learning the history of the kingdoms and all of Arda, in addition to swordplay and archery.

It took a very long time for me to learn the uses of the sword, as my mother would not allow it. My father was hesitant about the thought of me learning the ways of combat, but my great grandfather, Lord Elrond, convinced them otherwise. I had started learning archery from a very young age, as most female nobles were taught archery starting from the early age of 36, although I started two years earlier than the rest. My half-elven blood made my age group stronger and faster than me, since as an elf, I grew up slower than the humans around me, but that didn't prevent me from learning at an earlier age.

At the age of 118, I was sent out to journey from Gondor to Rivendell for the first time since my birth. I didn't know what to expect since I left Rivendell four days after I was born. I had seen my great grandfather often, since he always made the trip to come see my parents and I, but I didn't know anyone there.

During my journey to Rivendell, I had 12 guards with me, all of them were human. If I had at least two Elven guards with me, then I might not have ended up where I am now. Back to the story though, my guards and I were about halfway to Rivendell and we stopped for the night inside Fangorn Forest. I don't need to sleep since I'm a half-elf, but the guards all did have to sleep. During the night, after the guards had fallen asleep, I was sitting outside the area where the light of the fire reached. At one point, I thought I had heard the sound of someone walking around the perimeter of the camp. I was on alert and I started looking around to see if I could see anyone or anything. But there was nothing. About an hour went by, when suddenly a flash of light appeared in the distance, breaking apart the darkness of the forest. I was startled to see such a light suddenly burst out of nowhere in the dead of night. I was going to wake up the guards since none of them had awoken to the sudden flash, but thought that they might need to sleep a little longer. I was waiting for about 30 minutes, when I got a strange feeling that was pulling me towards the light, without me even knowing (I figure now that that is what had happened, as I don't know what else could have possibly happened for me to end up at my current destination). I walked up to the light, reached out my hand, and my head started spinning like crazy and I literally started falling into a portal of some sort. The last thing I remember was screaming from the pain in my head and then darkness.

I awoke in a strange place. It felt familiar, but at the same time, it wasn't. The sun had already begun rising in the east and I could see that I was in a forest, but it was unlike any forest that I had ever seen. I called out for my guards, but no response. I called out for my great grandfather and my father and mother. No response. At that point, I started to freak out a little bit. I decided to go walk around to see if I could find anyone or any sign of my guards or family, but after probably five hours of looking, I couldn't find any sign of life, besides the echoes of the forest and the singing of unfamiliar birds.

Then, I heard a scream. Not just one scream, but the screams of multiple people. I darted towards the sound, not caring whether or not the situation I was running to was dangerous. I stopped at a ridge above a slope that angled down about 20 feet before leveling out again. About one hundred feet away, there I saw a dragon and 12 men. The men were all in silver colored plate with chainmail underneath. 6 were armed with heavy lances and the rest had longswords and heater shields. There were two dead horses behind the dragon, which had red and black scales, piercing red eyes, 5 long talons on each hand, and short, curved horns on its' head. It had a tail with a spear-shaped end and two straight, bony spikes on each side below the tip.

I stared at the scene for a while until I noticed that the dragon was severely injured and the men were gaining the advantage. I felt pity for the dragon, for some reason, and I decided to help it. I had learned defensive and offensive magic in secret from my great grandfather in the event that I was in an emergency that could put my life in the balance. I summoned up an Elven longbow and 24 bodkin arrows, two arrows for each man to make sure that I can pierce through their armor. I released the first four shots within two seconds and every arrow struck home right in the neck between the breastplate and the helm. The men were shocked by the sudden volley of arrows that dropped four of their companions within seconds. Three of them ran while the others moved their shields towards to location of where the arrows had come from without completely exposing them to the dragons attacks.

I shot another three arrows with extreme speed and accuracy and three more men fell dead. There are only two left, and by that point, they realized that they were done for. They began to run away as fast as they could from the dragon and my volley of arrows, and neither the dragon nor I pursued them. After the men were far enough away, I slid down the slope to get to the dragon when I had noticed that the dragon was shifting into a different form: An Elf. By the time I reached the shapeshifting elf, I could tell that he was badly wounded. I luckily had a few bandages with me and I began unrolling the fabric to dress the wounds when he spoke: "Thank you....that was....incredible...accuracy..." I could tell that he was in extreme pain. "It's no problem. Now please lay still so that I might dress your wounds properly," I replied. He held up a hand as if to stop me but put it on his wounds and started chanting some sort of spell that I had never heard of. "Sword cut, spear stab, mace smash, arrow jab. Let the white light of healing descend on thee. Let the white light of healing stop thy spilling blood. Let the white light of healing mend thy bones. Let the white light of healing close thy wounds. Let the white light of healing restore thy vigor. The white light of healing hath healed thee."

His wounds quickly began to heal. I asked him what that spell was and he looked at me in question, and said "What do you mean, what is that spell? Everyone knows that spell..." "Well, you see, I don't know where I am, as I've never seen a forest like this before and my guards disappeared and I have no idea w-" "You have guards??" He interrupted. "Y-yes...I'm the princess of Gondor and Arnor and Lady of Rivendell." He was silent for a few seconds, looking puzzled at what I had said, as if he didn't understand a word. "Gon-dor?? Aranor? Riverdell? What on earth are you talking about?" He asked. "Umm....where am I? And by the way, its Arnor and Rivendell, not Aranor and Riverdell." "You're in Amtgard, in the kingdom of the Emerald Hills."

Then it clicked. "I must have been warped to this world whenever I touched the light that appeared in Fangorn Forest..." I said.

"Warped?? What do you mean?? Do you mean that you were transported from a completely different world to this one?" "I guess so." I said quietly. "What is your name?" He asked. "Emmeryn. Emmeryn Nightingale." I replied. "Well, Emmeryn Nightingale, what do you want to do now?" "Is there a place that I can go until I get everything sorted out?" "Theres Saracen city, the green dragons, a bunch of households..." "Saracen city?? What is that like?" I asked. He spent a few minutes describing what the Saracen city is like and how the people are welcoming of everyone, and how they are a family even though they aren't blood related." "That actually sounds really good. How can I get to the Saracen city??" "I can take you. I'm a Saracen myself." He said.

And on that day, I became an initiate for the Saracens in the world of Amtgard, in the kingdom of the Emerald Hills. I was at home.
