Shipwrights Guide

From AmtWiki

Description

The ship-based battlegames presented in this manual take the place of the usual castle or other fortified structure found in Amtgard battlegaming.

By simply changing the shape of the map, you change the entire narrative of the game. What was once just another Castle Siege is now a pitched battle between ships at sea!

Additionally, there are a few optional rules you can add to any battlegame held over or in the water. Like any new rules, be sure to go over all the variations with your players before beginning.

Lifeboats

A simple PVC frame lies just to the side of the main battle area. Players who find themselves in the water can swim over and find a safe spot from any Monsters roaming nearby.

Falling Over and Climbing Up

Players who fall or otherwise find themselves in the water can (from their knees) touch the side of a ship and incant "Climbing" x20 to reenter the playing area at the spot they counted from. Climbing players may be attacked with projectiles or magic, but are immune to melee until they reenter play safely.

Masts and Rudders

Milk crates or other sturdy boxes can be used as game objects. Just put one near the center of the play area (masts) or at the rear of the ship (rudder). To destroy one, a player must strike it with a melee weapon 20 times. Use one (or both) of these as a Ring the Bell variant for ship themed games.
