Biography
The first sound heard after the birth of the new son of the Achak tribe was the cry of the coyote to the red harvest moon. It was taken as a sign, and the newborn babe was named Istaqa, or Coyote Man. The whole of the tribe felt an aura off of the child unlike anything they were used to, and it was spoken in hushed tones that this child would either become a great force for good, or the same for evil, depending on the truth or shadows that would form in his heart.
As the boy grew up, he found that he was able to enter a higher state through meditative trance, and connect his spirit with that of the animals surrounding the tribe. Because of this, the chief and shamans used him as a deterrent of malicious beasts who would stray near the village. This put considerable strain on the boy, and he grew to resent those who would use him. One day, a particularly powerful aura approached, one that caused those most attuned to spiritual energies to have to brace themselves against the weight of it. The creature drew near, showing itself as an unnaturally large coyote. Istaqa, overpowered by its aura to the point of doubling over in pain, suddenly heard its voice in his head. It said that his birth was on a night permeated with powerful magics, and he was a child destined to be neither animal nor man, but something alike and unlike them both. With that, the coyote charged the boy, passing through him as though he were made of smoke, and then disappearing into the night.
Istaqa was overcome by a new force coursing through his veins, and he entered subconsciously into a deep trance, and the image of the coyote flashed across his vision. Suddenly his body began to change, and he found himself halfway between man and coyote, with an insatiable bloodlust. Giving into his newfound urges, he tore through each member of the tribe before bounding off into the shadows of the night. He awoke the next morning as a man, dizzy and disoriented, but filled with a sense of absolute power. Over time, he found that he could transform not only into the hybrid, but into a coyote as well.
Drawn to Serpent's Hollow by the aura of the enormous snake lying dormant beneath it, he lives in the forest just outside of the shire, keeping the company and enlisting the help of wolves and other animals in an attempt to reach the snake by whatever means necessary and free it from its cavern.
