Talk pages are an important but underutilized feature on AmtWiki. They can be found by clicking the discussion tab at the top of the page, and are found on every page on the wiki. Talk pages are used primarily to coordinate AmtWiki efforts, and are the primary source of communication between editors.

When responding to something that has already been said on a talk page, put your comment below theirs. It's considered good etiquette to keep talk pages easy to read by indenting your comments so that responses fall within the primary remark. You can indent using a colon

When leaving a comment on a talk page, sign your post with four tildes, like ~~~~. This will convert into a time-date stamp with your username attached to it after you click on the save page button and save your edit. This signature is easy and useful, since it quickly allows people to respond directly to you. It's suggested that you make an AmtWiki account so that people are able to talk to you if there is an issue with the things that you've edited, or if they wish to collaborate with you.

An example of a neatly formatted talk page (while editing) is shown below:

does anyone know when sir DragonRaven was knighted for her flame belt? ~~~~
:I think it was May 98? I remember King Edward Nygma dropped the sword but idk when he was in office. ~~~~
::Oswald was king from March to August in 1998, so that can't be right. Maybe you're thinking of Nygma's second term as king in fall 2000? ~~~~
:November 1997. Happened at our midreign. ~~~~
::Thanks Rosencrantz! I'll update the page. ~~~~
:::No problem. ~~~~

After posting the edit, the talk page will be formatted like this:

does anyone know when sir DragonRaven was knighted for her flame belt? Barnabus 18:27, 15 March 2015 (EDT)

I think it was May 98? I remember King Edward Nygma dropped the sword but idk when he was in office. PinkHawkEH 05:05, 17 March 2015 (EDT)
Oswald was king from March to August in 1998, so that can't be right. Maybe you're thinking of Nygma's second term as king in fall 2000? Drizzit 11:54, 20 March 2015 (EDT)
November 1997. Happened at our midreign. Rosencrantz 15:20, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
Thanks Rosencrantz! I'll update the page. Barnabus 19:12 23 March 2015 (EDT)
No problem. Rosencrantz 20:27, 23 March 2015 (EDT)

Alternatively, you can insert the intentions automatically using spaces.

Article Talk Pages

While small changes can be made on your own (grammar and punctuation edits, adding missing categories, providing missing information about chapters or people), large overhauls of pages should be the work of AmtWiki as a whole. This is where talk pages come in. If you have a question, comment or concern about the content or layout of a page, put it in the talk page so other people have a chance to discuss it and come to an agreement about what should be the final outcome of the page or its contents.

If there is a page that is protected by the admins, but you wish to add information to it or correct a mistake, put the information on the talk page. Admins on AmtWiki check updated talk pages daily by monitoring the Recent Changes page. If no one responds to your suggestion within a couple days, you can leave a message on an admin's talk page, such as Crispin's.

Article talk pages are not a chat room, a soap box, a battleground, or a place for general discussion of the topic of the page itself.

User Talk Pages

If you want to talk to an editor on AmtWiki, they best way to do so is through their talk page. When you leave a comment on a person's talk page, they get an orange notification bar at the top of their screen of whatever part of AmtWiki they are currently on.

If a person posts on your talk page and you wish to reply, you can do so in two ways. The first is to simply reply on your own page, which keeps the thread in one place but makes it possible for a person to not see that you responded. The second way is to reply on their talk page, which gives them the notification so they will see that you replied.
