Astraea Winterborn, of Eldamar, Goldenvale of Amtgard
Biography
Astraea (aka Emma) started playing Amtgard because Tolin really really wanted to LARP and discovered that there was a game near where they lived! She had also secretly always wanted to LARP, too, though was more interested in the RP side of things because she's not great at stick, but really likes dressing up and making things. :) She started going to Ashwell when it was founded and even though she doesn't make it to many park days, she tries to attend events when she can, and has really enjoyed her experience so far!
Backstory
Astraea was born on the shortest and darkest day of the year, under a bright crescent moon and a blanket of stars, in a temple on the highest glacial peak of the Huldafrost Mountains. She was raised by the scholar-priests of the Scions of the Moon, a renowned group of people most learned, in a temple filled with books and scrolls and magical knowledge.
She was on track to become a scholar priest herself when a rogue dragon attacked a village nearby, and the villagers beseeched the temple for aid. Normally, dragons in the Huldafrost range get along with the other beings that live there, and there is a generally sympathetic relationship in a "you don't bother us, we won't bother you" sort of way, but this dragon, it was later discovered, had been cursed by a sect of mages who had been secretly taking root deep in one of the mountains, and had escaped and begun wreaking havoc on the mountainside.
Astraea began working with the temple healers to assist the villagers when they discovered that many of those hit hardest by the dragon attacks had developed a strange ailment in which the victims bodies slowly frosted over.
In need of a cure for this cursed disease, the High Scholar-Priest found themselves needing someone with both scholarly and healing knowledge to venture forth into the greater world and seek out any information on a way to fight what they came to call the Frostblight.
Astraea, always eager to learn new things and to help in any way she can, was one of the selected group sent out into the world to seek a remedy, and has been visiting as many places as she can, learning about their magics, elixirs, and about the people themselves, and though she takes her job very seriously, she has also been enjoying her travels immensely.
