Equipment Inspection Requirements

Each piece of equipment must pass an inspection before its use each day to ensure safety, durability, recognizability, and type-specific construction standards are met. Passing an equipment inspection does not guarantee that a piece of equipment is 100% safe. Players should always remain vigilant for potentially dangerous situations or equipment being used in an unsafe manner.

  1. Equipment is checked by a person with the authority to inspect equipment, granted by their Kingdom’s Corpora or other relevant organizational document. This traditionally includes the Monarch, Champion, Guildmaster of Reeves, and/or the Reeves for the day where the equipment is being used.
  2. All weapon inspections must include some form of volunteer-assisted Hit Testing. See the Equipment Inspection Guide for our recommended method.
  3. It is highly encouraged for inspectors to follow the full Equipment Inspection Guide whenever feasible.
  4. Equipment that does not pass inspection cannot be used on the battlefield. Using uninspected or unapproved equipment on the battlefield is grounds for immediate suspension from combat.
  5. Equipment may be reinspected throughout the day as necessary.
  6. SPECIAL: BOWS, CROSSBOWS, ARROWS, & BOLTS
Archery is the most potentially dangerous aspect of our game. Anyone wishing to use a bow or crossbow must demonstrate to the equipment inspector that they are able to do so safely. Players who demonstrate unsafe bow use during inspection or at any point thereafter may have their archery privileges revoked by the inspector or a safety authority for that day/event.
Whenever possible, bow, crossbow, arrow, and bolt inspection should be performed or aided by someone with knowledge and experience in their safe use.

A detailed guide for inspecting equipment and bow-use can be found in the Equipment Inspection Guide. Template:V9 Construction Standards
