The Man who desires nothing
It was from the pillars of smoke choking the midday sky that Tokwan Vaunt emerged. His village lay in ruin, the bodies of it's once stalwart residents littering the dirt paths outside their burning homes. Tokwan had returned to Evenflow, as he had once promised, and brought with him a vile hatred that manifested itself in a bloodlust of fury and fire. Like Valkyries, the cannons of his ship, the Sapphire Wraith, sang the song to end lives. For ten minutes, he bombarded the village before finally stepping shore to finish the final wave of his siege himself. Finding his coward father, Tokwan enacted his revenge for years of abuse by this sad little man. Leaving the burning village, Tokwan left his father's head impaled upon a spike, eyes open, so that it could watch Tokwans promise come to fruition.
A privateer of the Faraconian sea and adopted son of the Black Isle of Gothika, Tokwan has made a name for himself as a smuggler and cut-throat. Price is of no interest to this beast, as he feels no greed, no desire for anything but destruction. And it is destruction that sates his thirst.
Evenflow was a beautiful place, but it hid terrible secrets. Tokwan razed it to the ground to expose it's secrets to the world. Since that time, he curses beauty. Seeking to destroy the beautiful things of this world so that their ugly secrets are given rite to surface.
Often a bleak individual, Tokwan is best known as a confrontational, rude, violent and spiteful individual. His loyalty lay with his crew, his cannons and his company.
In his time away from Evenflow, Tokwan learned many skills to supplement his blade. His ability to leap through shadows, disappear and salivate poison are gifts of Zeebakun, a Gothikan chicken chaser by day, but by night she becomes a hermaphroditic witchdoctor by the name of Papa Dodo. Replacing Tokwan's heart with a knot of blackened wood, Papa Dodo freed Vaunt from certain emotions and weaknesses that would draw upon his heart. Dodo soaked that wooden knot with the blood of the most poisonous tree frog on all of Gothika, a rare species that was known to slip through the shadows to poison it's foes as Tokwan does now.
