The story of the Wyld Hunt revolves around the change of the seasons and the fight between the Summer and Winter Queens' armies. The original story line had participants transported to fairie. As the story continues fairie becomes more and more intertwined with our physical realm. While the seasons are evoked as the warring factions the Queens are also referenced as Seelie (benevolent) and Unseelie (malevolent) with Summer representing the fertility of life seen during spring and summer and Winter representing death from seasonal hardships and famine.
