Shef won the Ironman at Clan 2003. He was knighted and joined the nighthawks in Clan 2004. Can provide picture proof.
I seem to remember it going down that way as well. Kevin maintains his own article, I'll leave a note about it for him.

I am completely stunned. I was there when Shef first set out to create the Elven court. He was an asset to the game, a friend to many, and a truly good person. He will be missed. -Ironpaw
